Position Overview
Recruitment Number 26-0082. This vacancy is with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR) and is located in Downtown. Salary: $4,961 to $6,043 per month (SR-20, Step D to I).
Responsibilities- Conduct site visits to all eight correctional facilities on Oahu (four) and neighbor islands (four) to perform sanitation inspections and audits.
- Perform the full range of independent environmental sanitation work assignments in an assigned geographic or defined specialty work area, applying sanitation sciences, socioeconomic knowledge, and enforcement of sanitation laws, rules, and regulations.
- Legal Authorization To Work: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State to be citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
- Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in one of the physical or biological sciences.
- Professional Specialized
Experience:
One and one-half (1-1/2) years professional inspectional or investigational work involved in interpretation and application of laws and regulations in public health, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of environmental health programs, regulations, bacteriology, chemistry, physics, vector control methods, and social sciences. - Driver’s License: Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment.
- Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Requirement:
- Has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other institution.
- Has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse.
- Has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in #2 above.
- Has been the subject of substantiated allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment or resigned during a pending investigation of alleged sexual abuse or sexual harassment.
- Substitution Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements will apply.
