Land Agent V Position

Salary: $6,221 to $7,568 per month (SR-24, Step D to I).

The land agents perform and/or supervise or administer work in the acquisition of lands for public purposes, in the disposition of public lands for approved private and public purposes, and in the inspection and enforcement of terms and conditions of land dispositions and provisions of public land laws.

Land Agent V performs the most complex land transaction assignments on a continuous basis; or serves as a staff specialist in developing and monitoring program plans, budgets and procedures, special reports and proposed legislation affecting public lands; may supervise lower level land agents and/or clerical personnel; and performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor's degree. Specialized

Experience:

Level V requires three and one-half (3-1/2) years of progressively responsible professional experience which demonstrated knowledge of Hawaii Land laws, real estate laws and terminology, the real property appraisal process, various types of land titles and legal instruments affecting land transactions; and the ability to gather and analyze land transaction data; prepare reports of findings, including conclusions and recommendations, and meet and deal effectively with others.

For Land Agent V, at least one year of experience must have been comparable to that of a Land Agent IV in State service, which is summarized below. The Land Agent IV is fully competent in performing all land acquisition, disposition, inspection and enforcement activities under general supervision; performs the full range of work in the acquisition and disposition of all public lands of the State including complex and difficult assignments;

independently conducts studies of all land transactions for preparation of recommendations on requests for use of State lands or for the acquisition of lands for State use. Transactions include leases, easements, fee sales, revocable permits, executive orders, land exchanges, negotiated sales, licenses and acquisition through condemnations and negotiated purchases. Supervisory Aptitude:
For Level V, supervisory aptitude rather than actual supervisory experience may be accepted. This requirement will be considered to have been met when there is strong affirmative evidence of the necessary supervisory abilities and/or potential. Driver's License:
