DUTIES

SUMMARY:

This is the entry level position that trains to become a Victim/Witness Counselor.

Under direct supervision, this position:

1) Trains to interview victims/witnesses of violent crime to determine assistance needs; recommend services; monitor the progress of the criminal case; and the continuing needs of victims and witnesses.

2) Trains In appropriate communication and Interaction with victims and witnesses; accompanies victims and witnesses to court proceedings; provides outreach services to victims and witnesses of misdemeanor trials at family and district courts.

3) Trains to provide crisis counseling to victims and witnesses.

4) Learns about appropriate governmental or social service agencies and the services available.

5) Learns about the Hawaii criminal justice system and its policies and procedures relating to victims of crimes.

6) Assists with special projects and tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Training and Experience
: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT: Possession of an appropriate valid Hawaii State driver's license (Type
3).
