Under indirect supervision, fields phone calls and electronic messages from internal and external customers; requests and obtains prior images; reviews accuracy of historical images; scans or imports images and reports into Diagnostic Imaging systems; pulls and files films and jackets; collects data for analysis and reports; combines current and historical images; scans images for interpretive requirements; researches and updates clinical, exam, status and location information into appropriate system;
assigns cases in system; resolves and follows-up on identified errors and delinquent cases.
Determines needed images and information; submits requests for images and information; retrieves and tracks those images and information.
Pulls, scans / digitizes hard copy films for comparative and archival purposes in PACS system; assures accuracy of information and images for each scanned study.
Checks and reconciles jacket information and data entry into hospital, radiology & PACS information systems; assures accurate and complete entries for images per study including proper orientation & data input; reviews scanned entries for QA / QC purposes; initiates / performs corrective measures according to departmental protocol.
Updates PACS system in regards to priority including status notes.
Produces copies of existing images as requested; burns / imports CD images.
Assists in collecting, compiling, computing, and recording data regarding images, CDs and / or imaging reports for accuracy; forwards appropriate materials.
Determines case priority for handing and scanning films based on departmental standards and procedures.
Enters / updates clinical information and exam data into Radiology, Hospital & PACS Information systems.
Monitors workflow of active file; coordinates activities; ensures historical images are available and scanned in sequence based on type of examination; ensures timely completion for radiologists viewing.
Assists in providing clerical orientation to other departmental personnel; provides feedback to lead; familiarizes personnel on film release policy and procedures.
Monitors incoming and outgoing image requests for completeness and timeliness; maintains tracking system for timely imaging request resolution; oversees return of viewed films to their proper jackets.
Resolves and follows-up on departmental errors identified in daily file room operation; reviews cases on delinquent list and determines missing elements or errors made by staff; informs proper individuals on status of case; initiates corrective action as needed.
Collects data for analyzing trends in compliance with department policies; gathers data for analyzing trends in compliance with departmental policies.
Delivers, sorts and distributes mail.
Validates requesting source; releases verbal information in accordance with current policy; receives incoming calls; delegates and / or tracks until completion.
Maintains shelving of records; shelves and purges jackets as necessary; searches and reconciles misfiled jackets as needed utilizing knowledge of jacket flow patterns; reports duplicate numbers, misidentified films and other miscellaneous discrepancies to lead.
Notifies and / or meets with lead or other designated individuals as required to review problems with imaging records and process flow patterns.
Monitors supplies; informs lead or supervisor of inventory levels.
