Advanced Practice Provider – Trauma and Acute General Surgery (Rotator Day/Night)
The Queen’s Health System: A non‑profit healthcare organization with four hospitals and over 70 specialty health‑care locations throughout Hawai‘i. Accredited by The Joint Commission and the only Magnet‑status hospital in the state, it serves as the major referral center for oncology, cardiovascular, neuroscience, orthopedics, surgery, and emergency medicine. The Queen’s Medical Center is Hawai‘i’s first and only Level 1 Trauma Center.
Job Summary / Responsibilities- Provide advanced practice care by diagnosing, treating, prescribing, and assisting in surgical procedures under physician supervision.
- Lead the development of protocols, serve as a healthcare researcher and interdisciplinary consultant, and advocate for patient care.
- Work collaboratively with physicians and the care team across all hospital and clinic settings.
- Functions as an expert practitioner in nursing or physician assistant practice, including health promotion, disease prevention, and complex acute and chronic disease management.
- Conduct comprehensive history taking, physical examination, ordering and interpretation of diagnostic tests, and procedures as permissible within scope of practice.
- Educate patients and families on health management and coordinate social, economic, and ethical care considerations.
- Finger dexterity, sight, hearing, and speech.
- Continuous sitting with static gripping of objects for prolonged periods.
- Frequent walking; occasional standing, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, and lifting/carrying 1–5 lb items.
- Reach above, at, and below shoulder level; frequent gripping.
- Exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, and chemicals.
- Potential contact with hostile patients and/or families.
- Work not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
- Education / Certification / Licensure:
- Current Hawaii State license as an APRN or Physician Assistant in good standing.
- Specialty board certification aligned with area of assignment (APRN).
- Prescriptive authority for non‑controlled and controlled substances as required.
- BLS certification.
- ACL S and PALS certifications.
- Eligibility for credentialing and privileging if providing medical‑level care.
- Additional Requirements:
- Current board certification in one of the following: ACNP, AGACNP, ACNS, or CCNS.
- Prescriptive authority for controlled substances required.
- Experience:
- Two (2) years of nursing experience or completion of an APRN Fellowship Program (applies to APRN positions).
- One (1) year of clinical experience as an APRN or Physician Assistant preferred.
Base salary $ per year.
