About the Position
This position is located within Tripler Army Medical Center in the Directorate of Medicine, Department of Medicine Cardiac Catheterization Lab services in Honolulu, Hawaii. Medicine. Tripler Army Medical Center is a tobacco‑free workplace. Tobacco products include, but are not limited to, smoking, smokeless tobacco, and electronic nicotine delivery devices. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
Duties- Assist physicians and team members during a variety of highly complex, potentially life‑threatening invasive cardiovascular procedures on stable and unstable patients.
- Ensure patients are well‑informed of the procedure and understand circumstances that will occur during procedures.
- Clean instruments and maintain sterile instruments inventory.
- Assist in identifying and selecting patients procedure‑specific catheters, supplies, equipment, and contrast medium and volume and then manipulate or change supplies or instruments in order to meet the requirements of the procedure.
- Attend to patients safety and comfort needs before, during, and after procedures.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position has been designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as on‑call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
- A pre‑placement medical examination is required.
- This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
- This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re‑verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one‑year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre‑employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on‑duty accident.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre‑existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
