Senior Scientist - Clinical Research; Temporary Call-In, Varied Shifts

RESPONSIBILITIES

Effective Date: 02/21

• Performs a combination of skilled and highly skilled procedures or analyses involving complex methods or a complex series of steps.
• Oversees or conducts critical parts of research projects such as project development and implementation, data management, clinical trials or laboratory procedures. Pursues extramural funding opportunities.
• May perform day-to-day supervision and coordination of a research group, taking charge of the execution of a research project.

• Essential: standing, sitting, walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object.
• Frequent: lifting and carrying usual weight of 2 pounds up to 10 pounds, repetitive arm/hand motions.
• Occasional: walking on uneven ground, finger dexterity, reaching above, at and below shoulder level.
• Operates computer, printer, copier, telephone, calculator, facsimile, pneumatic tube system, scientific equipment and/or laboratory animals.

• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• May have exposure to potentially hazardous materials such as toxic chemicals, radiation and/or disease causing organisms.

• A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
  • Doctoral degree in field appropriate to the area of assignment.

  EXPERIENCE:
  • Five (5) years of related research experience appropriate to area of assignment.
  • Strong grant management experience including track record of receiving grant awards or funding, preferably NIH or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated scientific and academic accomplishment as evidenced through peer-reviewed publications, as first author or senior author.
  • Prior teaching and/or mentorship experience.
