Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provide direct services to students which abides by established Counseling and Student Development Center (CSDC) policy and procedures, and includes but are not limited to: brief time-limited individual and group counseling for psychological academic and career concerns, phone screens and intake evaluations, crisis intervention and urgent drop-in services.

2. Provide clinical case management duties for complex cases to include: connecting with relevant resources and providing on- and off-campus resources, collaborating with allied health care professionals related to treatments, gathering information and updating client charts.

3. Respond to crises, suicide assessment, intervention and postvention cases.

4. Administer and interpret various assessment results (e.g., CCAPS, MBTI, SCII, LD/ADHD, MMPI) and prepare assessment reports in a timely manner.

5. Provide individual clinical supervision, training and education.

6. Develop and implement outreach activities, workshops, and programming.

7. Provide faculty, staff and student consultations and training where appropriate and when requested.

8. Respond to campus and service requests for classroom presentations, talks, panels, information fairs, skills training, etc.

9. Contribute and participate in CSDC staff development series and other professional activities.

10. Participate in Center, Division, and Campus-wide activities and programs. including leadership in those programs where interest and expertise are present.

11. Receive direction and guidance from the Director or designee.

12. Work closely with Center staff and campus colleagues as part of an integrated team. Participate collegially in meetings, teams and committees.

13. Work periodically on evenings, weekends and/or holidays as needed.

14. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Possession of a doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology or combined psychology programs from an APA-accredited program or related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for mental health support, assessment and intervention; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.

2. Advanced and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of a wide range of developing and emerging concepts, principles and methodologies in the area of clinical or counseling psychology.

3. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of a wide range of principles, theories, federal and state laws and systems associated with the practice of psychology as a Licensed Psychologist.

4. Demonstrated ability to understand problems from a broad interactive perspective and use reasoning to discern underlying principles and issues when problem solving, and apply creative thinking to resolve problems in new and innovative approaches.

5. Demonstrated written and verbal competence in presenting ideas, concepts and models clearly using persuasion and negotiation to build consensus and cooperation.

6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.

7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing software, and electronic medical recordkeeping system and other commonly used software.

8. For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.

9. Completion of an APPIC-affiliated doctoral internship in health service psychology.

10. Current licensure as a psychologist in at least one state.

11. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Hawai`i Psychologist license within six months of start date.

12. Demonstrated experience to conduct brief psychotherapy, provide crisis intervention and delivery of group counseling.

13. Demonstrated experience to competently evaluate and intervene with mental health related concerns in young adults and adults.

14. Demonstrated experience in providing mental health consultation to professional and non-professional colleagues as well as parents and other concerned parties.

15. Evidence of strong skills in providing outreach on a variety of topics and prevention services.

16. Demonstrated proficiency in administering and interpreting various assessment results (e.g., CCAPS, MBTI, SCII, LD/ADHD, MMPI) and efficient production of assessment reports.
