Position: Travel Occupational Therapist Acute Care Job

Overview

Occupational Therapist – Acute Care travel assignment in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Start date:

08/10/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $1,495–$1,540 per week. Guaranteed hours: 32 per week.

Shift: 5x8 days with weekend coverage (dayshift). Setting:
Short Term Acute Care Hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive OT assessments for adult and mixed-diagnosis patients in an acute care setting; develop and adjust individualized treatment plans aimed at improving functional mobility and activities of daily living
  • Implement evidence-based OT interventions to address gait, balance, strength, dexterity, cognition, and ADL independence; monitor progress and adjust goals accordingly
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (nurses, physicians, PT, speech-language pathology, social work) to coordinate discharge planning and ensure smooth transitions to the next level of care or home
  • Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, adaptive equipment, safety strategies, and resources to facilitate safe community reintegration post-discharge
  • Document evaluation findings, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries per program policy in the electronic health record
  • Participate in rounding and care planning meetings; communicate any barriers to progress and advocate for patient needs within the acute care workflow
Requirements
  • Active Hawaii OT license and certification to practice in Hawaii
  • Ability to work in an acute care environment and adhere to hospital-level infection control and safety standards
  • Availability to cover weekends and dayshift shifts as required by the assignment
  • Proven ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and document clearly in electronic health records
  • Flexibility to work within a travel assignment framework and adapt to varying patient populations and acuity
