Mobile Phlebotomist

Job Overview

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday; 4:00 a.m.

- 12:30 p.m. with weekend and holiday rotations.

Collect clinical laboratory specimens and perform tasks associated with patient registration, order entry, and specimen processing under general supervision. Perform waived testing, provide logistical support to team members, and general assistance to customers. Extensive travel required in various weather conditions to nursing homes and home draws.

• Perform venipunctures at HNL clients and home draw locations.
• Collect other specimens and explain proper collection procedures.
• Clarify orders and pre-analytical test requirements when appropriate.
• Register, requisition lab orders, and verify billing information.
• Make accurate initial assessments of specimen suitability using laboratory handbook and SOPs.
• Travel to various locations (nursing homes, home draw sites, etc.) to perform specimen collection.
• Process, store, and transport specimens according to SOPs.
• Respond to customer inquiries regarding specimen requirements and testing schedules.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in specimen requirements and collection devices.
• Maintain an adequate inventory of supplies and ensure a meticulous work area.
• Provide on‑call and mobile services as required.
• Assist in orientation, training, and mentoring of new staff members.
• Report collection statistics, patient wait times, and patient satisfaction surveys as required.
• Participate in Continuous Service Improvement and continuing education programs.
• Properly record and document necessary expense reimbursement (Mileage Reimbursement) following established electronic processes.

  Experience:
  
  High school diploma or GED; 6 months to 2 years related experience and/or training preferred.
• Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish may be required based on service location.
• Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common‑sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Computer
  
  Skills:
  
  Knowledge of Word Processing software.
• Certificates and Licenses: Valid driver’s license from the state of residence and a clean driving record. Must have accessible and reliable transportation to perform essential duties. Certification required by the American Heart Association for Basic Life Support to include adult, child, and infant; certification will be provided if needed.
