The Honolulu Emergency Services Department is seeking licensed Mobile Emergency Care Specialist I (Paramedic) professionals to provide advanced life support pre-hospital emergency medical care throughout Oahu. Respond to emergency calls, assess patients, provide critical care, and coordinate with EMTs, physicians, and public safety partners during emergency response and transport.

What You Will Do
  • Provide Advanced Life Support by assessing patients, administering medications, and performing advanced medical procedures during emergency response and transport.
  • Lead Emergency Medical Care by directing on-scene patient care and making medical decisions during emergency incidents.
  • Coordinate Patient Care with physicians, hospitals, and public safety personnel to ensure appropriate treatment and transport.
  • Respond to Medical Emergencies by providing emergency care for critically ill or injured patients in a variety of emergency situations.
  • Supervise and Train Personnel by overseeing Emergency Medical Technicians, evaluating performance, and providing guidance and instruction.
  • Prepare Medical Reports by accurately documenting patient care, treatment provided, and other required records following each emergency response.
Special Working Conditions
  • Will be required to work rotating, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
  • Respond to emergencies in all weather, road, and traffic conditions.
  • Lift, move, and transport patients in physically demanding situations.
  • May be exposed to communicable diseases, blood, bodily fluids, and other biohazards.
  • May work in hazardous environments and around dangerous materials.
  • May handle stressful situations involving emotionally distressed, intoxicated, or combative patients or bystanders.
