Exempt, non-civil service, full-time, temporary appointment. This position conducts a variety of specialized laboratory assays to isolate, detect and/or confirm bacteria, toxins and viral agents involved in bioterrorism, and outbreaks or disease processes related to new or emerging and re-merging bacterial, viral and rickettsial infections. This position also performs different microbial and molecular assays on different matrices using multiple platforms.
EDUCATIONGraduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in microbiology, biology, or similar laboratory science.
EXPERIENCE- One (1) year of professional experience in the detection, isolation, identification, cultivation, use and/or control of microorganisms. Such experience may have been gained in such scientific disciplines as bacteriology, immunology, serology, mycology, parasitology, virology or other related areas of science.
- Experience with molecular identification methods and technologies, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), lmmunoassays, including serological assays and experience in microorganisms using Biosafety Levels 2 and 3 practices are preferred.
