Activities Coordinator - Off-Site Acute Care Unit (Full-Time, 40, Day

Responsibilities

• Conducts therapeutic activities and/or recreational programs.
• Completes evaluation and screening process in area of assignment in accordance with governmental, departmental and Medical Center policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Provides input to the treatment team and works collaboratively with patients and team members to achieve treatment goals.

• Essential: standing, walking, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, lifting, pushing/pulling usual weight of 50 pounds of force, carrying usual weight of 20 pounds.
• Frequent: sitting, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, squatting, twisting body, pushing/pulling weight of 50 pounds of force, carrying weight of 50 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level.
• Occasional: kneeling, walking on uneven ground, repetitive arm/hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object.
• Operates computer, copier, other business office machines, and therapeutic tools and kits.

• Exposed to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
• Some exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, fumes/odors/dust from craft materials.
• Work environment is sometimes stressful from patient's physical outbursts and yelling.

• A. Education/Certification and Licensure:
  Current Hawaii State license as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) or certification by the National Certification Council of Activity Professionals (NCCAP) as a certified activity professional (i.e. APC, ADC, ACC); or one (1) year experience in planning and implementing therapeutic programs and/or recreational activities may be substituted for the certification/licensure requirement.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support at the Healthcare Professional Level.

  One (1) year related clinical experience in area of assignment preferred.
