The Dietitian II assesses patients' nutritional needs; develops and implements nutritional care plans and therapeutic diets; counsels patients on dietetics; evaluates progress and results and prepares appropriate reports; and performs other related duties as assigned. The Dietitian III provides responsible professional dietetic services to individual patients encompassing all areas of dietetics. Position is responsible for independently performing the full range of professional dietetic activities in an institution.
Works under the general supervision of a higher-level Dietician who is responsible for the technical and administrative functions of the unit. The Dietician III assesses the nutritional needs of patients, preparing nutritional care plans and formulating therapeutic diets, instructing patients on diet restrictions and allowances, and preparing special and therapeutic menus. In addition, the position may order food, oversee food preparation and meal service, and assign and review the work of food service personnel.

Legal Authorization to Work Requirement:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Basic
Education:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a course of study approved by the American Dietetic Association, including the successful completion of a dietetic internship, or other equivalent clinical component approved by the Association.
Registration Requirement:
Applicants must be registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association or have the documented equivalent in education, training, and experience, with evidence of relevant continuing education.
Specialized Experience Requirements:
Dietitian II no experience needed;
Dietitian III One (1) year of progressively responsible professional dietetic or nutrition experience that provided the applicant with a full professional understanding of the theories of dietetic therapy and their application in the maintenance, improvement and/or recovery of good health. Possession of a master's degree in foods and nutrition, dietetics or institutional food management may be substituted for one (1) year of Specialized Experience as described in the complete Minimum Qualification Requirements (click on link below).
