RESPONSIBILITIES I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs a variety of instrument processing, supply, and distribution functions in Sterile Processing (SP), Operating Room (OR) Core, Same Day Surgery (SDS) or department as assigned.
- Performs duties in accordance with Body Substance Isolation, established departmental procedures and accepted techniques.
All required, designated by frequency.
- Essential: standing, walking, kneeling, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking; lifting usual weight of 20 pounds up to maximum 50 pounds; pushing/pulling usual weight of maximum 50 pounds; carrying maximum weight of 50 pounds.
- Frequent: stooping/bending, kneeling, reaching above, at and below shoulders, repetitive arm/hand motion and standing for long period of time.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Subjected to heat while wearing protective uniform and working in decontam.
- Subjected to noise/vibration from sterilizers and equipment.
- Exposed to hazardous materials and chemicals.
- Minimal exposure to fumes and gases.
- Work environment can be mentally and emotionally stressful.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
EXPERIENCE:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
- Prior experience cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments preferred.
- Knowledge of automated systems preferred.
