Kapi'olani Medical Specialists (KMS) is a specialty physician group dedicated to caring for Hawai'i's women and children through excellence in academics, physician training, medical research and clinical care. The group is comprised of over 100 Specialists, Nurse Practitioners and other staff, covering newborn to women's health services at Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children. The group’s specialty areas include:
Neurology, Orthopedics,Genetics, Adolescent Medicine, Otolaryngology, Behavioral Health Services, Hematology/Oncology, Neonatology, Pediatric Intensive Care, Family Medicine and the full spectrum of Pediatric Specialties. Its Women's specialists include Breast and General Surgery, Adult Hospitalists and GYN Oncology.

The Hawai‘i Women’s Healthcare department offers complete obstetrical and gynecological care for women and is one of the most comprehensive centers for women’s health in Hawai‘i. Services include obstetrical care, pre-pregnancy counseling, medical, dietary and social service counseling, pregnancy testing, prenatal and high-risk prenatal care, counseling and postpartum follow-up care, referral services, infertility diagnostics and treatment, family planning, annual physical exams and pap smears, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, birth control methods, routine gynecological exams, evaluation for and scheduling of gynecologic surgeries, cyst biopsy and removal, nutrition counseling, and endocrine and teen clinics, among others.

Minimum Qualifications: High school or equivalent. Completion of a Medical Assistant Program and/or equivalent experience. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), OR Assessment Based Recognition in Order Entry (A
-OE) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Medical Technologist (AMT), OR Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency testing (NCCT), OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from American Registry of Medical Assistants, OR Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) from National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), OR Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) from the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from the National Health career Association (NHA).

Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card. Must Be able to complete departmental competency assessment by conclusion of orientation period.

Preferred Experience: One (1) year back office medical assistant experience in an outpatient clinic, physician’s office, or related experience.
