In this role, you will support the operational foundation of HSFCU’s benefits and compensation programs, and collaborate with internal and external partners to help uphold a reliable, well‑managed, and employee‑centered Total Rewards environment.

Position Summary

The Benefits and Compensation Professional II supports the efficient, accurate, and compliant administration of the credit union’s benefits and compensation programs. As part of the Human Resources Operations team, this role provides expertise in program execution, job description management, and market analysis to help ensure employees receive clear, consistent, and well-communicated Total Rewards experiences.

This position collaborates closely with the Human Resources Operations Senior Section Manager as well as HR leadership, Payroll, Finance, and external vendors. The role focuses on operational execution, governance, and documentation support, contributing to a reliable and audit-ready Total Rewards environment aligned with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Professional certifications such as SHRM-CP/PHR, CCP, CBP, or CEBS are preferred.

  • 4–6 years of progressive experience in benefits administration, compensation, total rewards, or related human resources operational functions.
  • Experience maintaining job descriptions, conducting compensation benchmarking, and supporting job pricing or classification decisions required.
  • Experience supporting audits, compliance reviews, or regulatory examinations preferred.
  • Experience in a regulated or financial services environment preferred.
Required Knowledge
  • Working knowledge of benefits administration and compensation practices, including health and welfare plans, retirement programs, and pay administration.
  • Understanding of job evaluation, job architecture, and compensation benchmarking methodologies.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state employment laws and regulations related to compensation and benefits (e.g., FLSA, ERISA, ACA, COBRA).
  • Familiarity with pay equity principles, classification standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of audit, risk management, and governance practices related to Total Rewards.
  • Working knowledge of HR information systems, data integrity, and reporting standards.
Skills/Abilities
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret compensation and benefits data and translate findings into clear, practical guidance.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in analysis, documentation, and execution.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex benefits and compensation concepts clearly.
  • Ability to apply policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements consistently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to partner effectively with HR Business Partners, Payroll, Finance, and external vendors.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently within established governance frameworks.
  • High level of discretion and integrity when handling confidential employee and compensation information.
