Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site position located in our Honolulu Office for a Benefits and Leave Specialist. The role involves administering the company’s employee benefits and leave programs, ability to develop wellness programs and create supporting materials(flyers, postcards, etc.), coordinate multiple events annually, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and policies such as the U.S. Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). On a daily basis, you will communicate with employees, respond to benefits and leave-related inquiries, and provide exceptional customer service.
You will collaborate with department leadership, employees, retirees, vendors, maintain accurate records, and support the development of internal processes related to benefits and leave administration.
- Experience in Benefits and Leave Administration and thorough knowledge of employee benefit (medical, 401k, Profit Sharing, etc.), leaves, and wellness programs
- Stay informed of current benefit trends and be updated on labor/employment laws
- Understanding of the U.S. Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other relevant legal compliance for the State of Hawaii
- General understanding of broader HR functions, such as recruitment, onboarding, compensation, performance management, is also essential to provide comprehensive HR support
- Strong Insurance-related knowledge and ability to coordinate with providers, bill reconciliation, advanced understanding of FMLA, HFLA, ADA, Military Leave, Short and Long Term Disability, and modified duty processes
- Excellent Communication and Customer Service skills, with a focus on timely and effective support
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain accurate and confidential records
- Proficiency in employee benefits-related software and tools is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related 3 years+ in HR experience
