Job Description
Job Location: Honolulu, Hawaii
Compensation: $65,000-$90,000/year
Employment Type: Full Time - Exempt
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
We are seeking a Bilingual (English-Japanese) HR & Administration Manager to lead strategic and operational initiatives across Human Resources, Payroll, Recruiting, and Facility Operations. This role partners closely with executive leadership to align HR programs with organizational goals, ensure compliance with U.S. employment regulations, and cultivate a safe, efficient, and positive workplace environment.
You will oversee a cross-functional team including an Admin and Payroll Specialist, an Admin/Recruiting Specialist, and a Facility Operations Supervisor-providing leadership, coaching, and support to drive operational excellence and employee engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute HR strategies and programs aligned with organizational objectives.
- Manage the full employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and offboarding.
- Oversee payroll operations and compliance, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in coordination with Finance and external providers.
- Provide HR and payroll support for Japanese expatriates, including compliance with tax and immigration requirements.
- Ensure HR practices comply with all relevant U.S. federal, state, and local laws.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging workplace culture.
- Lead organizational change and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook.
- Advise managers and employees on HR, compliance, and workplace issues.
- Coordinate visa and immigration documentation for Japanese assignees.
- Education: Bachelor's degree required;
Master's degree preferred. - Experience: 5-8 years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources and/or Administration.
- Language Skills: Professional proficiency in both Japanese and English (verbal and written).
- Certifications: SPHR and/or SHRM-SCP strongly preferred.
- Other: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
