Senior Network Engineer; TS

What You’ll Do

AEP Hawaii has been engaged to hire an experienced Senior Network Engineer to support large-scale data center networking initiatives for a mission-critical environment.

This role is fully onsite in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Candidates must hold an active Top Secret clearance.

• Support large-scale data center network deployments in a high-availability environment
• Review and provide recommendations on EVPN/VXLAN leaf-spine network designs
• Migrate or interconnect network environments across multiple vendors into a modern Arista-based infrastructure
• Build and support network configurations, including provisioning automation using Python and tools such as Ansible or Chef
• Assist with implementation planning, change management, and operational readiness
• Participate in proof-of-concept efforts and deep testing to validate design scenarios
• Perform troubleshooting, bug scrubs, and provide configuration or code recommendations
• Act as a technical interface between internal engineering teams, vendor support, and the customer
• Advise on architectural decisions and translate business requirements into scalable leaf-spine network solutions
• Design and support advanced routing architectures with a focus on BGP, EVPN, and VXLAN
• Build and maintain strong relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Understand and align solutions with client business objectives
• Travel may be required on a limited basis

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• Active Top Secret security clearance (required)
• 7+ years of experience designing and deploying data center networks
• Deep expertise in leaf-spine architectures
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• BGP and MP-BGP
• EVPN and VXLAN
• L2
  
  VNI stretching and L3
  
  VNI routing (symmetrical and asymmetrical)
• Automation experience using Python and Ansible
• Experience with Arista technologies, including AVD and CVP
• Strong background in data center switching and routing

• Industry certifications such as CCIE (DC or SP) or Arista ACE L3/L5

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Customer-focused mindset with experience producing technical documentation and tracking work through tickets or follow-ups
