Summary Of The Role – Network Engineer
The focus is on network design, implementation, lifecycle management, and cybersecurity across routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, and wireless infrastructure. The role also mentors junior staff and serves as Tier 2 escalation for the help desk.
Key Responsibilities- Design, install, and support enterprise network infrastructure
- Manage routers, switches, firewalls, wireless systems, and site‑to‑site VPNs
- Configure and support Layer 3 routing protocols
- Perform firmware/IOS upgrades and lifecycle management
- Monitor and troubleshoot network performance and logs
- Strengthen cybersecurity controls (ACLs, firewalls, encryption)
- Support compliance (STIGs, 8570, etc.)
- Contribute to vulnerability management and threat mitigation
- Lead infrastructure upgrade projects and new technology rollouts
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams
- Administer Microsoft Teams Phone
- Provide Tier 2 escalation and mentor junior staff
- Maintain network and SOP documentation
- Bachelor’s in Network Management or related field
- OR 3–5 years recent networking engineering experience
- OR vendor‑specific certifications (CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, VMware) in lieu of degree
- 3–5 years technical experience in related IT fields
- Strong professional communication
- Working knowledge of:
Cisco routing/switching/firewalls;
Microsoft Teams Phone Administration;
Microsoft Azure/Entra; VMware vSphere (plus)
- Must reside on Oahu — onsite up to 5 days/week
- Monday–Friday business hours; staggered schedules possible
- Must be available 24/7 for critical network support
- Occasional after‑hours work for urgent issues
This is a Permanent position based out of Honolulu, HI.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $69,000.00 - $/yr.
