Primary Purpose Of Job
Leads and develops a network engineer operations team while actively contributing to the design and architecture of enterprise network solutions – planning, configuration, and installation of network systems, including LANs, LAN internetworking, and WAN environments, inclusive of connections to partner networks. This role ensures reliable, secure, and scalable network services through a balance of operational excellence, forward‑looking architecture, and collaborative leadership that fosters accountability, urgency, and positive team engagement.
MajorJob Accountabilities
- Leads, mentors, and manages the network administration team to deliver reliable, secure, and high‑performing network services.
- Oversee 24/7 network operations, ensuring rapid response and resolution of production issues with minimal business impact.
- Establishes and monitors KPIs/SLAs to measure operational effectiveness and continuously improve team performance.
- Serves as a hands‑on network architect, contributing to the design and evolution of LAN, WAN, cloud, and hybrid network environments.
- Collaborates with network engineering teammates with architectural planning for scalability, resilience, and security aligned with business and technology strategies.
- Collaborates with engineering teammates to review and approve network designs, configurations, and changes to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
- Evaluates emerging technologies and recommends innovations to improve performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Partners with leadership to define and execute network infrastructure strategy and roadmap.
- Identifies opportunities for automation, optimization, and modernization of network services.
- Balances short‑term operational needs with long‑term architectural goals.
- Collaborates closely with infrastructure, security, application, and business teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Acts as a key liaison between technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
- Promotes a team‑first mindset, encouraging open communication, knowledge sharing, and mutual support.
- Ensures disciplined execution of change management processes with minimal risk to production systems.
- Leads root cause analysis and implements preventative measures to reduce recurring issues.
- Champions continuous improvement in ITIL‑based processes.
- Coaches, mentors, and develops team members technically and professionally.
- Fosters a positive, inclusive, and high‑morale team environment that encourages innovation and growth.
- Leads by example with a proactive, solution‑oriented, and adaptable mindset.
- Ensures network infrastructure adheres to security policies, regulatory requirements, and internal standards.
- Implements and maintains appropriate controls to safeguard systems and data integrity.
- 5+ years managing network or infrastructure teams in a production environment.
- Proven experience in both:
- Network operations leadership, and
- Network design/architecture (enterprise‑scale preferred)
- Experience leading incident response and driving operational improvements in time‑sensitive environments.
- Possesses experience in managing projects to deliver IT solutions in a time‑critical manner.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to inspire, motivate, and unify teams.
- Demonstrated ability to operate with urgency while maintaining quality and strategic focus.
- Deep technical expertise in network architecture (routing, switching, firewalls, cloud networking, etc.).
- Proven ability to balance hands‑on technical work with leadership responsibilities.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills across technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities, especially in high‑pressure situations.
- Commitment to fostering a positive team culture and high employee engagement.
- Cisco CCNA Certification preferred.
- Relevant architecture or cloud networking certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure) are a plus.
