Responsibilities

  • Provide operational support to HMSA’s desktop and end‑user infrastructure, including:
    • Implement, maintain, and upgrade HMSA’s endpoint and client software.
    • Install, configure and troubleshoot computers, peripherals, software, and network connectivity.
    • Define procedures for user access to endpoints and client software.
    • Operate end‑point and network monitoring tools.
    • Optimize end‑user computing infrastructure.
    • Install system patches to support vulnerability management practices and product maintenance, and maintain physical security of end‑point infrastructure.
    • Develop backup and recovery procedures for end‑point devices.
    • Evaluate and recommend new hardware and software for the end‑user computing environment.
    • Assist in the setup and conduct of audio/video conferencing activities.
  • Provide technical expertise across business functions, understanding the relationship between the business and the Information Systems Department, by:
    • Consulting with other IS Department teams regarding infrastructure requirements and providing recommendations for design and implementation of systems integration efforts.
    • Supporting project planning and requirements gathering efforts, and creating action plans for systems development or integration.
    • Planning and implementing upgrades, ensuring change‑management procedures are followed, scheduling infrastructure repairs and installations, and coordinating with vendors.
    • Adhering to asset and disposal procedures, designing and implementing replacement plans, maintaining inventories, monitoring key performance indicators, and ensuring service levels meet or exceed requirements.
    • Escalating problems, informing management, troubleshooting and diagnosing issues, coordinating with multiple vendors, reviewing logs, and maintaining IT service‑management tools to document changes and identify recurring problems.
    • Identifying user training needs, sharing knowledge with users and IS staff, updating users on incident and problem status, ensuring follow‑up procedures are adhered to, tracking customer satisfaction, participating in long‑term infrastructure strategy and planning, and participating in rotating on‑call support schedules. Provide after‑hours support to business operations as needed, including remote locations across the Hawaiian Islands and overnight travel when required, and be on‑call for critical incidents.
  • Participate in continuing education and training as assigned, ensuring an accurate and updated knowledge base.
  • Perform all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed.
