New Venture Research Corporation (NVRC) is a leading provider of innovative technology solutions supporting critical defense programs.

The IT Site Lead serves as the on-site technical and supervisory lead for a small team of IT and related support professionals supporting a Department of Defense (DoD) facility in the Honolulu, HI area. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and cybersecurity posture of a moderately complex information technology system providing virtual desktop services to up to 275 distributed end users within a fixed facility.

The Site Lead operates under the direction of the local Officer in Charge (OIC), as well as NVRC Senior Leadership, and is accountable for the performance, availability, and security compliance of all supported IT systems and services.

Key Responsibilities System Operations & Management
  • Oversee day-to-day operation and maintenance of the system, including virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and extensive layer 2 environment supporting up to 275 end users.
  • Monitor system health, availability, and performance, taking proactive and corrective action as required.
  • Coordinate Authorized Service Interruptions (ASIs) for system updates, patching, and maintenance activities, ensuring minimal impact to operations.
  • Manage system lifecycle planning, including tracking hardware and software against end-of-life and end-of-support timelines, identifying obsolescence risks, and coordinating with the OIC to plan and execute timely replacements or upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and configuration records to support lifecycle tracking and future capacity planning.
  • Administer and oversee a regular backup regimen for all critical system data and configurations, ensuring backups are performed on schedule, verified for integrity, and stored in accordance with applicable DoD data protection and storage requirements.
  • Ensure timely resolution of trouble tickets and service requests in accordance with established service levels.
  • Support development and maintenance of additional system documentation, policies and procedures as needed.
  • Identify and propose opportunities to improve service delivery, reduce risk and optimize the system and environment to better meet the needs of the OIC and supported end users
Cybersecurity & Compliance
  • Maintain the cybersecurity posture of all supported systems in accordance with applicable DoD directives, policies, and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with system ISSO and ISSM for routine and non-routine cybersecurity matters affecting the system
  • Ensure systems remain compliant with relevant security frameworks, including RMF (Risk Management Framework), STIGs, and applicable ATO conditions.
  • Coordinate with the OIC and appropriate security personnel on vulnerability findings, POA&Ms, and incident reporting.
  • Oversee the review and analysis of system audit logs on a routine basis, ensuring anomalies, policy violations, and indicators of compromise are identified, documented, and escalated appropriately.
  • Ensure audit log retention practices comply with applicable DoD policies and ATO requirements, including proper storage, protection, and availability of logs for review and investigation.
  • Support periodic assessments, audits, and inspections as required.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and direction to a team of IT support professionals.
  • Manage shift scheduling and staffing to ensure adequate on‑site coverage during normal operating hours (0600–1800 local).
  • Coordinate surge and flex hours to ensure appropriate support coverage during exercises, real‑world operations, and other periods of extended operational tempo.
  • Serve as the primary point of escalation for technical issues that exceed the capabilities of team members.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluation processes as appropriate.
  • Ensure team members complete required administrative actions in a timely manner, including timesheet submissions, Monthly Status Report (MSR) entries, mandatory training, and other company‑ or contract‑required actions.
