Responsibilities
- You will communicate, explain, and instruct on major system project objectives and make prioritization and critical independent decisions to support the achievement of these objectives.
- You will offer sound advice and effectively communicate this information to a variety of invested parties at varying levels of awareness.
- You will resolve complex major deficiencies in operation, maintenance, or logistics support of assigned systems.
- You will modify, adapt, and refine broader guidelines to resolve complex issues and problems, providing alternatives while maintaining overall system test integrity.
- You will serve as an organization advisor and consultant on matters relative to assigned projects.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E‑Verify employment verification check.
- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level (time‑in‑grade). This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Within the Department of Defense, the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code §3326.
- Males born after 12‑31‑59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- Successful completion of a pre‑appointment physical examination is required.
- Obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance before entrance on duty.
- Require wearing personal protective equipment (helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes) continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present.
- Participation in medical surveillance programs is required.
- This position may require travel from the normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a mission essential position. Must ensure continuity of operations or completion of tasks considered essential to the mission.
- Position requires an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
- Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS‑11) grade level, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
- Specialized experience includes applying technical engineering shipboard communication concepts, practices, policies, and procedures to provide technical advice for diagnosing, isolating, and repairing electrical/electronic failures in surface naval radio communication equipment and system malfunctions.
- Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS‑10) grade level, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
- Specialized experience includes applying shipboard communication policies and procedures to provide technical advice for repairing electrical/electronic failures in surface naval radio communication equipment and system malfunctions.
