You will serve as an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/INFOSEC) in the INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT of JOINT TYPHOON WARCEN PEARL HARBOR HI.
Responsibilities- You will serve as the focal point for the administration and operation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux workstations and servers, to include correcting security vulnerabilities in response to problems identified in vulnerability scan reports.
- You will plan, schedule, and participate in the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, and applications software supporting Joint Typhoon Warning Center operations and administration.
- You will serve as Information System Security Officer (ISSO) and will assist the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) in preparing authorization packages, monitoring system security, managing vulnerability scans, and responding to incidents.
- You will manage system resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability, and hardware and software configuration.
- You will develop and document systems administration standard operating procedures.
- You will ensure the rigorous application of information security/ information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of systems administration services.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level if currently a federal employee.
- Retired military members may be appointed within 180 days immediately following retirement.

- Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- Position requires DoD approved security certification within six months of hire.
- May require travel to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites; ability to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time required.
- Employee may be required to work overtime or on an emergency basis; recall to duty is a regular requirement.
- This position is exempt from coverage under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
- Experience serving as a system administrator for application systems such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux workstations and servers.
- Experience installing software similar to Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers and workstations.
- Experience applying DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems.
- Experience planning, scheduling and participating in the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems and application software.
- Experience managing user and administrator accounts, network permissions, and access to systems and equipment.
- Experience resolving hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.
- Experience managing the installation and integration of systems fixes, updates, and enhancements including Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM), Computer Network Directives (CND), and additional authoritative guidance.
- Experience in learning and utilizing information technology (IT) concepts, principles, methods, and practices.
- Experience in administering systems such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7 or greater, VMware vSphere 7.0 or greater, and Junos OS.

EducationKnowledge, skills, and abilities normally attained through the equivalent of one year of specialized experience, but may now be obtained through other means such as graduate education. Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher‑level graduate education leading to such a degree, or possession of an LL.M. related to this position, or a combination of experience and graduate education that equates to one year of experience, is acceptable.
