The Network systems administrator provides day‑to‑day technical support to employees, laptop/desktop systems, software, phones and network infrastructure. Monitor, upgrade, install and troubleshoot servers, including VM environment, computers, networks, networking hardware devices, supports and maintains system backups, user and server security, user account management, e‑mail systems, Active Directory environment, internet access, office systems, internal and external customer support.
Nature of Duties- Maintaining and supporting the Desktop environment, installing, configuring and troubleshooting desktop and laptop systems, printers, workstations, peripheral equipment and network issues in a heterogeneous, fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Maintaining passwords, data integrity and file system security for the desktop environment.
- Communicating technical information to both technical and non‑technical operations personnel.
- Defining, designing and implementing network communication and solutions.
- Proposing and implementing systems enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the systems.
- Managing the load configuration of a central data communication processor and making recommendations for purchases or upgrades of data network.
- Recommending hardware and software solutions, including new acquisitions and upgrades.
- Coordinating terminal orders and cable installation, network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing and servicing.
- Approving action requests and specifying purchase requirements.
- Negotiating and placing orders with common carriers.
- Working in a company‑wide, client‑focused, web‑enabled environment, in conjunction with Professional Services and outsourcing functions.
- Creating user accounts.
- Imaging PCs and laptops.
- PBX telecommunications support: setting up and programming the phone switch, configuring and maintaining the voicemail system.
- Desktop phone support in a VoIP environment, and cell‑phone user support.
- Resolving anti‑virus/anti‑spam issues on user computers.
- Working with customer systems to resolve network‑related issues.
- Providing help‑desk support, resolving user problems with desktop applications, workstations and peripheral equipment.
- Coordinating the installation and maintenance of application and desktop software products.
- Coordinating the installation and support of label printers and barcode scanners in the manufacturing environment.
- Participating in the development of information technology and infrastructure projects at the facility level.
- Coordinating and/or performing orientation and training of new FIT staff, coaching and mentoring of technical support personnel.
- Performing training sessions (Lunch and Learns) with peers and employees, when applicable as products change.
- Monitoring the local network for outages and performance problems, coordinating with internal and external teams as needed.
- Reviewing security reports and resolving vulnerabilities.
- Maintaining server hardware and software, applying monthly patches.
- Coordinating and/or upgrading, installing and maintaining IT environmental monitoring equipment; monitoring servers for outages and resource alerts, resolving as needed.
