The HMSA Technical Services
- Systems Engineering Team implements and supports HMSA's server and storage infrastructure. This position provides technical leadership for the development, maintenance, and support of complex storage infrastructure, and leads multiple initiatives to successful outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or technical institute degree / certificate or equivalent work experience.
  • Five years of relevant information technology work experience.
  • Substitutions such as a higher-level degree, specialized training or certification and less work experience will be considered.
  • Strong understanding of Datacenter consolidation, IaaS, private cloud, virtualization, assessment and capacity planning technologies and best practices
  • Strong understanding of OS fundamentals for UNIX, Linux and/or Microsoft platforms
  • Strong understanding of virtualization technologies and VMware products.
  • Experience with Brocade and/or Cisco SAN Switches and Routers
  • Experience with installing, configuring, supporting and maintaining Enterprise Backup solutions comprising disk-based VTLs
  • Experience with storage configuration, volume management and path management software tools (LVM, Native MPIO, EMC Power Path, HDS HDLM, etc.)
  • Experience with Disaster Recovery as it relates to storage systems and data recovery techniques, including disk replication, snapshots and disaster recovery best practices
  • Experience in system monitoring tools and techniques for supporting SAN, NAS and Backups operations, alerting and remediation Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Responsible for leading the support of HMSA's storage infrastructure. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
    • Ensures the reliability of HMSA's storage infrastructure, to include the planning and implementation of enhancements.
    • Develops Reference Architectures and technology standards based on Infrastructure Building Blocks, that can be offered as services to HMSA business units.
    • Implements, secures and ensures the availability of Storage, Backups and SAN infrastructure.
    • Provisions resources, and conducts advanced maintenance, data replication, disaster recovery, and data migration.
    • Develops documentation for our Open Systems Storage and Backup environments.
    • Supports complex Storage and Backup devices, including SAN, NAS and Backup solutions under minimal supervision.
    • Operates in complex, highly-secure, highly-available, operations-centric datacenter environments.
  • Provides technical expertise across business functions, understanding the relationship between the business and the Information Systems Department. Explains infrastructure capabilities. Consults with other Information Systems Department teams regarding infrastructure requirements and provides recommendations for both the design and implementation of systems integration efforts. Reviews and makes recommendations with respect to IT infrastructure that deviates from established architecture standards. Leads project planning and requirements gathering efforts.

    Recommends and creates action plans for systems development and / or integration. Identifies the need for major support contracts. Reviews vendor proposals. Prioritizes, plans and implements upgrades and ensure that change management procedures are implemented and followed. Prioritizes, plans and implements infrastructure repairs and installations. Coordinates and plans activities with vendors. Ensures that asset and Oversees the conduct of disposal procedures are adhered to.

    Designs and implements infrastructure replacement plans. Maintains inventories as appropriate. Monitors Key Performance Indicators and maintains service levels to ensure that requirements are met or exceeded. Escalates problems as required. Informs management as appropriate. Troubleshoots and diagnoses complex and escalated problems. Works with multiple vendors to coordinate the resolution of issues. Reviews logs and maintains Information Technology Service Management tools to document changes and identify recurring problems.
