Maintenance Technician – Honolulu, HI

Full‑time position within Hawaiian Building Maintenance.

Compensation

$25.00 per hour. Base pay range: $25.00/hr – $25.00/hr.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative general maintenance inspections and repairs, including painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical (light replacement/ballast, driver replacement), mechanical and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), Chiller readings, AC installation (window units), and grounds maintenance.
  • Interact with property managers, vendors, and customers to provide excellent customer service.
  • Lift, push, pull a minimum of 50 lbs up to 75 lbs; walk, bend, stretch, and otherwise perform manual tasks during the shift.
  • Ensure mechanical equipment and systems are operational and troubleshoot as necessary.
  • Create and maintain work orders and purchase orders.
  • Work in warm/hot conditions, use stairs, and navigate up and down a ladder.
  • Perform additional maintenance duties as required by the Hawaiian Building Maintenance supervisor or property management.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Must pass a background check.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Basic hand tools acquired.
  • General preventative maintenance experience required: basic commercial plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and drywall.
  • Troubleshooting abilities.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Strong public relations and communication skills.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must perform basic manual labor, cleaning common areas, frequently lift, press, push, pull, carry a minimum of 50 lbs (up to 80 lbs), reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, walk, and stand throughout the shift.
  • Willingness to learn and improve.
Schedule

Monday to Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm (40 hours per week). Must be available for after‑hours, weekends, and holidays.
