Reports To: Senior Program Manager/General Manager
Location: Honolulu, Hawaii. Various Islands.
SummaryAs the Regional Health & Safety Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading and overseeing all safety and health aspects of our construction, Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Professional & Technical Services (PTS) and Environmental Services contracts. Leveraging your extensive experience and expertise in safety practices, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our safety programs.
Your leadership will establish and maintain safety as a top priority throughout our organization. We are looking for a forward-looking individual that provides continuous improvement to our Safety Program with exceptional support of all personnel. Safety Team Leadership experience is highly desired for all applicants.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies in strict compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Ensure alignment with industry best practices to elevate safety standards.
- Be part of the Corporate Team to make sure the Safety Program follows all governmental requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and unsafe practices.
- Implement corrective actions promptly to mitigate risks and maintain a safe working environment.
- Work with the entire team at each jobsite to make sure Dawson is on point for maintaining a safe site for all employees, as well as all that may come into contact with the site while work is in progress.
- Develop and deliver effective safety training programs for both employees and SSHO team.
- Monitor training compliance and effectiveness, making improvements as needed.
- Ensure that employees are keeping updated on their required training, professional designations and professional publications to keep current with Governmental Regulations to make sure they continue to be eligible for current and upcoming work.
- Someone that is interested in training and mentoring personnel is highly desirable.
- Lead investigations of safety incidents, near misses, and accidents.
- Determine root causes and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
- Work with SSHO'S to support their effort in managing the documentation in the event of incidents and to support their work in making sure the person involved has been made as comfortable as possible.
- Responsible for reporting all incidents to Corporate Health & Safety Manager in a timely manner and to follow-up regarding the employees' health status.
- Stay current with safety regulations and industry standards, including OSHA and EPA requirements.
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Have experience in working with Governmental Agencies such as OSHA, NAVFAC, USACE and EPA.
- Conduct safety audits and assessments of project sites.
- Identify areas for improvement and track progress toward enhanced safety performance.
- Work with SSHO's to help them develop and show them areas where you recognize they need some guidance in leading the team.
- As the RHSC you'll also be responsible for checking audits for clarity and posting for the Leadership to have access on a monthly basis.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive emergency response plans.
- Conduct drills and exercises to ensure team readiness for emergency situations.
- Provide support in planning and executing Emergency Drills to ensure the office/sites are prepared for emergencies.
- Foster a culture of safety through effective communication.
- Facilitate safety meetings and discussions to engage all stakeholders.
- Communicate with SSHO's and all staff regarding Safe work practices and provide support for any questions or concerns.
- Prepare and present safety reports to senior leadership and project stakeholders.
Track and analyze safety performance data to drive continuous improvement.
- Be available for all meetings that are required of the Regional Safety Manager and provide your input.
- Provide strong leadership and mentorship to the safety team.
- Promote a robust safety culture across the organization.
- Communicate with the Teams on each project to make sure they always have support and to follow-up.
- As required, provide safety coverage for construction contracts.
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, Environmental Science, or related field (Master's degree preferred), experience may be use to substitute education.
