Position Title: School Food Services Manager I
Salary: $5,522.81 per month
Overview: The School Food Services Manager I oversees all aspects of school food service operations, including planning, budgeting, purchasing, inventory control, staff supervision, and ensuring compliance with USDA meal pattern requirements, state and federal regulations, and safety and sanitation standards.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement service plans in consultation with the principal and School Food Service Branch.
- Manage daily food service operations, revise operating procedures, and maintain quality control standards for food production and distribution.
- Supervise preparation of menus and recipes, ensure compliance with reimbursable meal requirements, and adjust menus for dietary needs.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate food service employees and supervise student workers in the kitchen and dining areas.
- Provide orientation and training on food safety, sanitation, portion control, and use of equipment; ensure annual required training hours are met.
- Establish and manage food and supply inventory, place orders, and coordinate receipt, storage, and inventory tracking.
- Maintain financial reports, budgets, and cost‑control measures, and process invoices for payment.
- Inspect facilities and equipment daily to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Schedule and oversee maintenance and repair of kitchen equipment.
- Coordinate satellite food serving operations, including scheduling, supervision, delivery, and cleanup.
- Attend staff meetings and workshops; maintain certifications and training records.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years total: 2 years general experience (quantitative food preparation, menu planning, fiscal record‑keeping, purchasing, and storage) and 1 year specialized experience as a food services manager with supervisory responsibilities.
- Supervisory Aptitude: Demonstrated potential for supervisory duties via past leadership, managerial duties, or formal supervision training.
- Certification: Valid food handlers level certification from the Hawaii Department of Health, ANSI‑accredited organization, or equivalent.
- Substitutions: An associate’s degree may replace 2 years of specialized experience; a bachelor’s degree may replace 3 years of specialized experience.
