RESPONSIBILITIES
I.
JOB SUMMARY:
A Director functions at a high organizational level, providing leadership and direction in the development and implementation of strategic and innovative initiatives to further the mission of The Queen’s Health Systems (QHS) and its affiliates. Anticipates problems and other needs and seeks solutions to assure the on-going operations of QHS. Is highly skilled in facilitating interactions among organizational departments and functions.
Promotes teamwork and collaboration; is results-oriented. A director reports to an executive; is accountable for functions and/or activities at the organization but may also have responsibilities supporting operations at other QHS entities or other affiliated organizations. He/she is accountable for outcomes and results to achieve the annual goals and objectives approved by the Board of Trustees. Makes a significant contribution to patient care quality and service.
Functions as an organizational leader. Recognizes and supports the unique heritage and mission established by the founders, Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV.
Area(s) of assignment:
The Director plays a critical role in advancing The Queen's Health Systems mission by identifying, shaping, and implementing strategic initiatives that strengthen the organization’s long term sustainability and impact on Hawai‘i Island. This role focuses on program expansion and development, supporting innovative approaches to service delivery and organizational growth in close partnership with executive and project leadership.
The Director will work closely with Facilities Master Planning, Strategic Planning, Government Relations, clinical operational teams, hospital Presidents, and the executive leadership team to identify, assess, and recommend growth opportunities, including new partnerships and services, as well as the enhancement of existing core programs and geographic operations on Hawai‘i Island.
The Director also serves as a key member of the Kona Campus Development project team, collaborating with project leadership to provide analysis, recommendations, and cross departmental coordination to support informed decision making and long term organizational success.

EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree Healthcare, Public Health or related field.
- Advanced degree in Healthcare preferred
B. CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
- No certification and/or licensure requirement.
C.
EXPERIENCE:
- Eight (8) years of experience in master planning, strategy, business development, and/or program development within the healthcare industry.
- Five (5) years management/leadership experience in healthcare.
- Solid understanding of business principles, i.e., strategic and financial planning, budgeting, business planning, organization theory.
- Proven leadership skills, i.e., planning, communications, motivation, mentoring, interpersonal skills.
- Track record of managing multiple departments/functions, preferably in a comparable health care setting.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives from concept through approval or launch.
- Proven ability to assess opportunities, develop initiative frameworks, and support executive decision making.
- Experience working closely with executive leadership and external partners.
