The Hanauma Bay Tram Supervisor will be responsible for assisting the Operations Manager in supervising and coordinating activities of Hanauma Bay Tram employees to provide cost effective, timely, and quality service to customers, and business partners. The Supervisor will assist in leading a team of drivers and support staff who operate transfer shuttles to and from the visitors office and the beach (Nature Preserve).
The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring drivers operate in a safe and timely manner, all while providing service to Hanauma Bay and their guests.
Essential Job Functions:
Incumbent may perform any or all of the following:
- Must have demonstrated and excellent organizational skills and leadership ability to develop safe, efficient and autonomous operating employees
- Must be able to quickly make decisions while under pressure
- Must manage and uphold vehicle cleanliness and presentation standards in alignment with Hanauma Bay programs objectives.
- Able to communicate effectively with Drivers, customers, on‑site staff/management
- Drive routes and relieve drivers as necessary or in any event of emergency
- Work availability will require all hours and days of the week
- Supervise staff of shuttle drivers and works in partnership with other operational areas
- Must provide guidance and mentorship to staff
- Has influence and input regarding employee performance and review
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
- Minimum 3 years of related transportation and operations experience, within managing preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Management or related field preferred
- Required a Hawaii driver’s license in good standing, CDL preferred
- Ability to work independently and effectively under minimum supervision
- Must be proficient with PC, Microsoft Office which includes, but not limited to MS Word, Excel & Outlook
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, customers and vendors
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize and handle multiple task and deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment to initiate appropriate changes in a dynamic environment
- Strong ability to lead and/or work in teams to accomplish defined common goals and objectives
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in fast paced, demanding environment
- Both indoors (office environment) and outdoors (field work)
- General office equipment and supplies (ex: Microsoft Office applications, PC, 10‑key calculator, copy machine, fax machine, etc.)
- Exposure to potential eye strain and muscle strain due to constant use of computer
- Must be able to sit/stand/walk for extended periods of time
- May be exposed to loud noises, smells, fumes and environmental conditions
- Require to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. regularly and on occasion up to 50 pounds
