The Department of Health Adult Mental Health Division has one (1) urgent vacancy located at the Hawaii State Hospital in Kaneohe, Oahu. Shift work is required; you must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Salary: $3,460 to $4,384 per month (SR-09, Step C to I). Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors. The Telecommunication Services Unit provides 24-hour communication services to the Hawaii State Hospital, including emergency services and after hours, weekends and holidays. The primary purpose of this position is to operate a multiple-line telephone console; receive and place incoming and outgoing local, long-distance, and interisland telephone calls; provide information to callers relating to telephone numbers, extensions, agency structure and titles, general functions and information regarding the organizations.

Calls and messages are routed to the proper person, division, or office of the departments or agencies served and referred to other technical questions for disposition. The position also keeps records of long-distance, interisland, and other toll calls for billing purposes and performs other related duties as assigned.

• Work experience requiring the ability to read, comprehend, and apply written directions, or a high degree of verbal skill.

Specialized

Experience:

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the operation of a multiple-line telephone console.

Supervisory Aptitude:
Supervisory aptitude rather than actual supervisory experience may be accepted. This requirement will be considered met when there is strong affirmative evidence of the necessary supervisory abilities and/or potential.
