Mobile SAF-IS Regional Program Specialist

The American Red Cross is currently seeking a Mobile SAF‑IS Regional Program Specialist to support the Service to Armed Forces and International Services Division mission. The role is regional and part of our mobile staff, requiring strict medical and security clearances. Worldwide deployment is a condition of employment. Mobile staff typically deploy for 6 months at a time, approximately once every 18‑24 months, and can be sent to any military base in the world.

Relocation assistance is available only for current employees within a 50‑mile radius of the division.

• Manage and administer the delivery of American Red Cross services to United States military members, veterans, and their families in accordance with Red Cross policies.
• Support delivery of International Services programs and services.
• Provide support, development, and leadership guidance to all volunteers.
• Perform duties in compliance with standard operating procedures and applicable regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Relationship Management and Community Outreach – serve as the “face” of the Red Cross at an assigned location, build strong relationships with military leadership, key organizations, and community leaders, cultivate partnerships with external constituents, and conduct outreach through command meetings, educational briefings, presentations, sessions, and social media.
• Volunteer Management – manage a volunteer engagement program, recruit and train leadership volunteers, implement local needs assessment, and use the Volunteer Connection Platform to manage, document, train, recognize, and communicate with volunteers.
• Service Delivery Management – ensure consistent delivery of SAF and IS U.S. services, supervise volunteer service delivery staff, coordinate services to military treatment facilities and VA hospitals, maintain a strong military community outreach program, manage support services to military members’ families, and support the emergency communications center.
• Financial and Reporting Management – develop and manage budgets, monitor and report on outcomes, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.

• Must be able to deploy anywhere in the world, including conflict areas.
• Must meet strict medical and physical requirements, including U.S. military immunizations.
• Must obtain a secret security clearance and a no‑fee U.S. passport.
• Must accept assignments anywhere in the world, may wear military uniforms and work in harsh, stressful environments.

• Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, human resources management, community organization, social or health sciences, or related field is required.
• 5 years minimum related experience in program management or related field.
• Strong computer skills, public speaking, verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities.
• U.S. citizenship.

Work assignment may require ordinary ambulatory skills, ability to stand, walk, lift up to 20 pounds, use a keyboard, drive a vehicle, and work under challenging conditions. Work may be performed indoors with potential exposure to safety and health hazards related to emergency services relief work. Staff may be on 24‑hour call during major disaster.
