Salary$3,892 to $4,925 per month (SR-12, Step C to I).
Position OverviewThe Clerical Supervisor class consists of three types of positions:
- Supervises, through one or more subordinate supervisors, a group of subordinates who perform moderately complex clerical work (comparable to Office Assistant II). This includes various standard clerical routines carried out on a regular or rotational basis, in accordance with standard practice and instructions.
- Serves as the immediate supervisor of a group of subordinates who perform journey-level clerical work (comparable to Office Assistant III). These duties involve independent performance of complex assignments that require judgment to determine proper disposition.
- Serves as the immediate supervisor of a group of subordinates who perform journey-level clerical work (comparable to Office Assistant IV). These duties also involve independent performance of complex assignments requiring judgment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
QualificationsTo qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
Legal Authorization to WorkThe State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State to be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
General Clerical ExperienceThree and one-half (3-1/2) years of responsible work experience involving independently performing a variety of clerical tasks, with demonstrated knowledge of office practices and procedures, and proficiency in operating office equipment and technologies. Experience must also cover knowledge and use of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, arithmetic, and the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, write clearly, and compare words and numbers quickly and accurately.
Non-QualifyingExperience
Experience limited to simple and repetitive clerical work, such as wrapping/unwrapping articles, opening envelopes, affixing tags, tidying office desks, and delivering or collecting correspondence, shall not be considered qualifying.
Supervisory AptitudeApplicants must possess supervisory aptitude, demonstrated through successful completion of assignments involving supervisory responsibilities, group or team leadership, or supervisory training coupled with application of supervisory skills. Favorable supervisor appraisals indicating supervisory potential are also required.
