Position: PUBLIC HEALTH PROGRAM MANAGER

Salary

EM05, $9,462 to $15,137 per month.

Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant’s qualifications, and other relevant factors.)

Responsibilities

Manages a major statewide public health program of the State health agency, performing related duties as assigned.

Responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures for the branch; planning, coordinating, directing, and evaluating program services; preparing program plans and evaluations, including budgeting and staffing requirements.

Conducts personal contact with other departmental personnel, personnel in other governmental agencies, community groups, health care professionals, and others, for purposes of planning and coordinating methods to improve health services delivery and resource utilization.

Basic Education Requirement

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university.

Experience Requirement

Applicants must have progressively responsible experience as described below or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Specialized

    Experience:

    Three and one-half (3-1/2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in social work, public health, or other related field that provided knowledge of public health laws, rules and regulations, public health programs and services, community health organizations, and an awareness of current public health problems and related social and economic conditions and concerns.
  • Supervisory

    Experience:

    Two (2) years of work experience that involved supervising a professional staff, including planning, organizing, scheduling, and directing the work of others; assigning and reviewing their work; advising them on difficult work problems; training and developing subordinates; and evaluating their performance.

Managerial Aptitude:
Applicants must possess managerial aptitude demonstrated through successful performance or substantial participation in organizing, scheduling, and coordinating a group of activities to attain program objectives within time, resource and budgetary constraints.

License

Substitution of Education for Experience
  • A master’s degree in public health administration, or other related field, provides substitution for one (1) year of the Specialized Experience.
  • Ph.D. degree in public health administration, or other related field, provides substitution for two (2) years of the Specialized Experience.
