Student Services is a two-person security team that is responsible for engaging daily with Administrators and Faculty. Their primary role is to ensure the safety and well‑being of Mid-Pacific Institute students while on campus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- This position requires excellent communication, verbal and writing skills, professional approach and appearance, and the ability to apply good judgment in the performance of the duties.
- Write reports of any irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the locations of all departments, buildings, and access routes.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the operation of the camera system, fire alarm, portable radios, and other equipment as deemed necessary.
- Maintain knowledge of Mid-Pacific Institute's emergency response plans and respond accordingly to any emergency or unusual situation.
- Check vehicles in school parking lots for authorized parking decals. Issue parking violation warnings and tags when necessary.
- Warn and enforce persons for infractions or violations, escort violators from premises, and call appropriate authorities when necessary.
- Call emergency first responders (i.e., police, fire, ambulance) in cases of emergency, such as fire or the presence of unauthorized persons.
- Maintain a log of all found property turned over to Security. Log and track found property until final disposition.
- When on duty, be familiar with school activities and responsibilities.
- Communicate emergency, safety, suspicious, criminal activities to the appropriate administrator or supervisor promptly.
- Keep information confidential; convey information only to the appropriate personnel.
- Monitors the cafeteria during all lunch periods and events.
- Monitors general student behavior on and in proximity to campus.
- Documents accurately all behavioral incidents.
- Writes up and sends student referrals to deans.
- Meets with deans and principals to review individual student behavior.
- Communicates with principal(s) and appropriate grade level dean(s) regarding student behavior that may affect the individual student’s or other student’s safety.
- Assists campus security in monitoring morning and afternoon traffic, as needed.
- Oversees faculty and student parking, including students’ permits and parking violations.
- Picks up students to bring to the deans and nurses.
- Delivers notes from Deans and Damon Hall to students, as needed.
- Coordinates locker selection, lock distribution, and cleaning of lockers during the summer.
- Drive injured students to class or other required locations in the golf cart.
- Must communicate verbally and in writing (log sheet) regarding incidents occurring during the shift.
- Performs other related duties as requested by the deans, Assistant Principal, Principal, and Damon Hall staff.
- Prepare and distribute reports to Deans, Principals, and President, as needed.
