Hospital Housekeeping Officer
The Hospital Housekeeping Officer is fully responsible for each shared area and services provided within each area, coordinating with TAMC personnel, and maintaining ongoing delineation of responsibilities and readjustments as the EMS department is developed. The MOUs and SLAs will cover responsibilities, scheduling, supplies and ordering of the delineation of work to include but not limited to pest control, grounds maintenance, laundry and linen distribution, Regulated Medical Waste and Solid waste removal.
Major Duties for the position include but not limited to:
Supervisory 50%
- Supervises Assistant Chief, EMS, Administrative Officer, Environmental Care Specialist (Trainer), Pest Controller, Linen Supervisor, Grounds, Housekeeping Supervisors, and Housekeeping Work Leaders. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets long range plans, sets, and adjusts short-term priorities, and reviews prepared schedules for completion of work.
- Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
- Interviews candidates for positions in the service; approves appointment, promotion, or reassignment to such positions.
- Effects disciplinary measures, including admonishments, reprimands, and suspensions, and proposes removal in more serious cases. Develops performance plans and rates employees.
- Assures reasonable equity of performance standards and rating techniques developed by subordinates.
- Makes decisions on work problems presented by subordinate supervisory positions, and for work leaders.
Environmental Management Program 35%
- Coordinates a complete Environmental Sanitation Program that includes but is not limited to the development and maintenance standards for cleanliness and sanitation, frequency of cleaning, methods, procedures, necessary supplies, and safety precautions to be followed.
- Responsible for the chemical labeling system and hazard communications program is maintained in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Monitors the system is maintained and continually assessed by the incumbent as part of the Environment of Care Quality Assurance Program as required by The Joint Commission.
- Ensures terminals and between patient-case cleaning are effectively provided in Operating Rooms, Recovery Rooms, Intensive Care Units, Inpatient Bed Rooms, using specialized cleaning techniques.
Incumbent will be required to manage the following programs:
- Pest Management
- Regulated Medical and Solid Waste Management Program
- Textile Care Program
- Employee Uniform Program
- Facility Moves Program Contracting Officer Representative (COR) 15%
- Conducts extensive research and analytical studies and develops specifications, justifications, and economic analysis in support of selection and acquisition actions.
- Prepares solicitation packages to include SOWs/PWS (statements of work/performance work specifications), technical evaluation criteria, bid schedules, etc., for contracts.
- Coordinates with Contracting Office to ensure completeness and legal sufficiency.
- Prepares cost analysis reports which provide management sufficient detail upon which to base decisions regarding allotment of resources.
- Prepares detailed budget proposals and financial plans for approval of higher level management in support of defined business needs.
- Maintains liaison with the contracting office, budget office, and other staff functions involved in hospital housekeeping activities.
