Job Summary

Supervises a team of facility engineers to provide preventative maintenance and repairs services for facility equipment (e.g., central plant operations, building management systems, safety systems). Plans and coordinates the team to respond to requests for repairs and troubleshooting of facilities equipment. Supervises the scheduled preventative maintenance to ensure the calendar is carried out in accordance with regulatory requirements. Supervises the team to ensure that facilities equipment passes safety checks and inspections in accordance with safety control programs (e.g., infection control, Material Safety Data Sheets [MSDSs], chemical control, fire safety, Emergency Care Research Institute [ERCI] alerts, and The Joint Commission (TJC) related programs, and all local regulatory requirements).

Utilizes the parts inventory in the database management system to supervise work. Coordinates and dispatches outside resources to perform services out of scope for the Facility Engineering team.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provides developmental opportunities for others; builds collaborative, cross‑functional relationships. Solicits and acts on performance feedback; works closely with employees to set goals and provide open feedback and coaching to drive performance improvement. Pursues professional growth; develops and provides training and development to talent for growth opportunities; supports execution of performance management guidelines and expectations. Leads, adapts, implements, and stays up to date with organizational change, challenges, feedback, best practices, processes, and industry trends.

    Fosters open dialogue amongst team members, engages, motivates, and promotes collaboration within and across teams. Delegates tasks and decisions as appropriate; provides appropriate support, guidance, and scope; encourages development and consideration of options in decision making.
  • Manages designated work unit or team by translating business plans into tactical action items; oversees the completion of work assignments and identifies opportunities for improvement; ensures all policies and procedures are followed. Aligns team efforts; builds accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results; determines and ensures processes and methodologies are implemented; resolves escalated issues as appropriate; sets standards and measures progress.

    Fosters the development of work plans to meet business priorities and deadlines; obtains and distributes resources. Removes obstacles that impact performance; identifies and addresses improvement opportunities; guides performance and develops contingency plans accordingly; influences teams to execute in alignment with operational objectives.
  • Plans, coordinates, and supervises long‑term equipment maintenance (e.g., central plant operations, building management systems, safety systems) by: managing responses to complex requests for service; coordinating teams and outside resources for complex repairs with long‑term implications; assigning work to the facility engineering team, and providing direction on day‑to‑day schedule.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements for preventative maintenance by: providing direction and guidance on moderately complex safety and maintenance initiatives; monitoring and documenting the progress of teams performing preventative maintenance (PM), and ensuring that all PMs are completed in a timely manner; driving coordination efforts with outside resources as appropriate to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements; and ensuring resources are allocated correctly.
  • Employs new and updated facilities equipment (e.g., central plant operations, building management systems, safety systems) by: leading the team on the installation of new equipment, updates to existing equipment, and user training on proper operation and potential hazardous or safety issues; providing guidance to and leading the team to acquire operations and technical service manuals; creating long‑term plans that account for installing and updating equipment, and proactively evaluating the need for new and updated equipment and providing…
