Director, Customer Engineering – Oahu

- Direct and lead the Customer Engineering division to achieve world‑class customer service, operational excellence, and financial results for the Oahu service territory.
- Develop and implement division policies, practices, workforce staffing, and a 5‑year capital and O&M budget.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with customers, developers, property owners, and government agencies, including the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission.
- Champion a safety‑first culture, enforce safe work practices, and drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and employee recognition.
- Coordinate participation in emergency response activities such as storm preparedness and public‑safety power shut‑off events.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (PE license desirable).
- Deep understanding of power engineering, transmission, distribution, generation, substation, and planning.
- Familiarity with regulatory environment, Hawaii Public Utilities Commission rules, billing, insurance, procurement, and union contracting.
- Proficiency in project and program management, budgeting, forecasting, procurement, safety compliance, and PC software applications.
- Leadership experience managing cross‑disciplinary teams and leading change initiatives.
- Strong decision‑making, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; ability to influence stakeholders and drive change.
- Proven supervisory experience with at least 25 personnel and 7+ years of supervisory and leadership experience.
- Experience in regulated electric utility industry (5+ years).
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and financial controls.
- Ability to adapt, mentor, and communicate effectively in a high‑pressure environment.
- 7+ years of supervisory and leadership experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a regulated electric utility industry.
- 5+ years of experience building relationships with business leaders, customers, and stakeholders at all levels.
- Professional Electrical Engineering (PE) license.
- Master’s degree in business administration.
- 2+ years of regulatory matters before the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission or an equivalent agency.
- Experience in distribution power system design & construction, tariff and distribution standards.
