Location:

Kapi'olani Community College Salary Information: $89,436 - $160,988 (Commensurate with education and experience; within budgetary limitations) Full Time/Permanent

Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate Campus-wide Work Toward Strategic Plan Goals

  • Strengthens Kapi'olani Community College's ability to achieve its vision and strategic plan goals.
  • Develops and implements processes to measure strategic outcomes.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and reports the tactical progress of the strategic plan goals.
  • Works with leadership to ensure that current and future campus work is aligned with the strategic plan goals.
  • Reports to constituents the forward progress of the campus in achieving its strategic outcomes.
  • Works with internal units to align unit strategic plans to the campus strategic plan goals.
  • Prepares and co-facilitates future strategic action planning endeavors.

Designs, implements, evaluates, continually refines, and reports assessment methods and procedures to improve campus academic, student life, and administrative programming.

  • Monitors and evaluates student learning, growth, and success outcomes.
  • Develops measurement instruments to analyze outcomes.
  • Fosters the development of a campus-wide culture of assessment that results in continuous improvement of student learning, growth, and success while meeting accreditation expectations and requirements.
  • Provides training and professional development opportunities to enhance assessment capacity among Kapi'olani CC faculty and staff.

Ensures regular programmatic assessment reporting and supports the efforts of academic programs to meet disciplinary accreditation requirements.

  • Serves as the institution's Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO).
  • Oversees and maintains all preparations for accreditation inspections and site visits.
  • Guides the preparation and execution of state compliance and national accreditation reports.
  • Collaborates with Kapi'olani CC Office of Institutional Effectiveness, UHCC and UH System counterparts to collect data and perform data analysis to promote a culture of evidence.
Lead Institutional Capacity Building Efforts

Serves as liaison for the Chancellor on matters which require independent judgment, high-level decision-making, initiative, and discretion.

  • Communicate on behalf of the Chancellor to all campus constituencies and system wide administrators.
  • Manages working relationship with the Chancellor's Advisory Council (CAC) and other groups as assigned.
  • Exercises judgment and independent initiative in bringing information or problems to the Chancellor's attention.
  • Filters and summarizes critical and key points and suggests follow up and resolution.
  • Troubleshoots, suggests, initiates, and oversees the resolution of unusual and complex problems and issues as well as confidential academic and administrative matters that directly impact the campus.
  • Provides assistance to other campus personnel as needed.

Manages, plans, coordinates, and promotes activities for rebuilding the campus cohesion and other special events.

Leads the campus-wide coordination of institutional capacity building grants, such as Title III, and initiatives as an indigenous-serving institution.

Coordinates campus-wide efforts in supporting Native Hawaiian students by establishing common goals.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree and 5 years professional experience or comparable demonstrated professional experience.
  • Successful experience as an administrator or manager that reflects knowledge of organization and administrative/management principles, theories, and practices.
  • Knowledge of programs, policies, and operations of postsecondary higher education institutions.
  • Successful track record of supporting Native Hawaiian students and programs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and responsible working relationships with faculty; staff; university officials; community groups; businesses; legislators; private individuals; and county, state and federal officials.
  • Ability to prepare speeches, conduct research, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to exercise extreme tact, diplomacy, initiative, and sound judgment in authentically inclusive frameworks.
  • Considerable skill in effectively communicating both orally and in writing with a wide range of individuals who come from diverse backgrounds and worldviews.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree in an academic discipline from a college or university of recognized standing.
  • Familiarity with University of Hawai`i Community College programs and policies related to academics, student services, research and scholarship, and administrative affairs.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic action plans in a postsecondary institution.
