Facilities Business Director

Applicants may be educational officers, teachers and other qualified individuals. Special internal/external. Type of appointment issued:
This position is excluded in the Educational Officers' Bargaining Unit and will be filled as a limited term vicing appointment. A written examination/assignment may be administered to help determine possession of the knowledge and abilities portions of the minimum qualification requirements.

Examples Of Duties

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of the Office of Facilities and Operations, the Facilities Business Director:

  • Administrative Leadership:
    Maintains management controls over operations of the assigned programs and responsibilities to ensure that planned levels of accomplishment are attained.
  • Supervisory Functions:
    Plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the work of subordinates.
  • Technical Responsibilities:
    Serves as subject matter expert for OFO on facilities business operations, including construction procurement, fiscal controls, and compliance matters.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    Education:

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, finance, engineering, construction management, or related field.

    Experience:

    Nine (9) years of responsible professional work experience in facilities business operations or related field of which five (5) years shall have been in an education program, government agency, or system including two (2) years of supervision of professional staff. Desired

    Experience:

    Five (5) years of progressively responsible work experience in one or more of the fields of construction procurement and contract administration, building maintenance, and capital improvements planning. Knowledge:
    Effective communication and leadership principles; change management and organizational behavior; operations and productivity management; basic research methods and statistics; budget preparation and execution; laws, rules, regulations and administrative procedures pertinent to the areas of assignment; principles and practices of supervision and management. Desired Knowledge:
    Applicable State laws, departmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures relating to construction, budgeting, construction procurement; general principles of management, supervision, and public relations; basic understanding of the Facilities Business Branch, Facilities Development Branch, and Facilities Maintenance Branch, OFO Capital Improvement Program and Office of Campus Operations and Support (OCOS) programs. Ability to:
    Manage staff services, functions and activities; deal effectively with federal, state, county and departmental officials and others to accomplish program goals and objectives; communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing; operate computer and other business machines. Desired Ability to:
    Exercise discretion and sound judgment in a managerial capacity in prioritizing projects and carrying out assignments, organizing projects and completing work within limited time/other constraints; set, model and uphold high ethical behavior and standards for staff; supervise the work of others and/or instruct staff as appropriate; prepare reports; evaluate effectiveness of programs to recommend direction or priorities to achieve program goals and objectives;

    improve and implement programs and procedures; assist districts, complexes and schools in the coordination and implementation of the programs.

    Supplemental Information

    Salary Range: EOSR-10, $130,120 to $184,201. Department of Education certificated employees will be placed on the salary range in accordance with Department regulations. All others will be placed on the first step of $130,120. Work Year and Benefits:
    This appointment will be on a 12-month basis with vacation and sick leave provided according to applicable regulations. Posting Cycle:
