Job SummaryPerforms a wide variety of sheet metal operations in the completion of primary and major assemblies involving major component tooling where some judgment is necessary to set up and maintain multiple numbers of parts or assemblies.
Responsibilities- Perform assembling operations such as cutting, filing, drilling, countersinking, fitting, shimming, adjusting, clamping, bolting, reaming, riveting, and bucking with predetermined tolerances, edge margins, and hole patterns controlled by tooling and fixtures.
- Locate reference points, holes, parts, and assemblies from established reference lines or points, transfer hole and rivet patterns within predetermined limits, and assemble sheet metal without aid of jigs, fixtures, or other tooling when necessary.
- Use hand and portable tools such as rivet gun, drill motor, portable dimpling equipment, bucking bars, deburr tools, file, and scale.
- Dedicate to meeting customer commitments and incrementally improving the process.
- Encourage continuous improvement, recommend solutions, and implement them.
- Ensure all safety guidelines for procedures and equipment are followed.
- Demonstrate positive behavior toward peers, supervision, company, and customer, treating all with respect.
- Take initiative to implement suggestions for improvement as part of the Andon initiative.
- Complete tasks with general supervision and receive additional on-the-job training as needed.
- Seek assistance to find solutions to problems.
- Listen to concerns and respond appropriately based on feedback during the learning curve.
- Identify the need for improvements and remain open to new ideas.
- High school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level Work Keys certification.
- Ability to use simple arithmetic, a limited number of measuring instruments, and blueprints.
- Assembly or technical experience is preferred.
- Complete daily tasks without supervision.
- Self-starter who takes the lead on important projects to completion.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills.
- Action‑oriented and willing to take on challenges.
- Follow all safety guidelines for procedures and equipment, and actively participate in daily ergonomic stretching exercises.
- Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship, for access to classified information.
- Preference given to veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.
