After 40 years, Flexaseal is continuing to grow with sales agents and distributors servicing over 50 countries. We are seeking a Lead Machinist to join our growing team!
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced machinist to join our Houston manufacturing team. The Lead Machinist will oversee all aspects of our machining operations, ensuring that production schedules are met, quality standards are maintained, and safety protocols are followed. This position requires strong leadership abilities, technical expertise in machining processes, problem‑solving, and a commitment to excellence. It offers an exciting opportunity for individuals eager to broaden their expertise and advance within the industry.
Responsibilities include set‑up, operation, and maintenance of a manual lathe, manual mill, 3‑axis CNC mill, and a high precision multi‑tasking machining center.
- Lead a team of machinists, providing guidance, training, and support as needed
- Set up and operate CNC machines, lathes, mills, and other machining equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance on machines per established maintenance schedule and as required
- Perform quality checks on finished and in-process parts to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications
- Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues as they arise
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a machinist, with 3 years in HMLV (high‑mix low‑volume) production environment
- Familiarity with G and M Code required. Experience with Okuma OSP a plus
- Experience with 5‑axis, Mill‑turn, or Multi‑tasking machines a plus
- Proficiency in operating CNC machines, lathes, mills, and other machining equipment
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, materials, and tooling
- Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings and technical specifications (GD&T)
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and leadership abilities
- Commitment to safety and quality standards
- Previous experience with mechanical seals is required
