Position Overview
Howmet Fastening Systems, a unit of Howmet Aerospace headquartered in Torrance, California, is seeking a Supervisor for our Fullerton, CA site.
The Production Supervisor will operate under the Department Manager, directing assigned employees to ensure efficient and productive performance of the department. Responsibilities include ensuring a safe working environment and meeting daily production goals in quality, output, and on-time delivery.
Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate activities of workers operating a variety of machines to manufacture parts or products.
- Supervise work teams and individuals in manufacturing responsibilities to meet customer quality and on-time delivery needs.
- Supervise work teams and individuals in manufacturing responsibilities to comply with company policies.
- Analyze work orders to estimate worker hours and create machining schedules that meet internal and external needs.
- Schedule and approve overtime and vacations.
- Manage teams by establishing monthly and quarterly performance goals.
- Assist in setting and achieving productivity and quality targets for various teams.
- Coach team or manufacturing personnel in continuous improvement efforts.
- Interface with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
- Inspect and measure parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
- Direct workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products that fail to meet standards.
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Suggest changes in working conditions and equipment use to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
- Maintain time and production records.
- Develop capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times.
- Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials.
- Review daily production reports and forms.
- Attend Daily Manufacturing Review Meetings.
- Support Manufacturing Manager in meeting departmental goals and objectives.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi‑task and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of management and employees.
- Highly organized and detail oriented, with excellent time‑management skills.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing.
- Experience with the manufacturing of precision‑machined metal components.
- Experience in a machine shop or knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Bachelor's degree in operations management, business, mechanical, metallurgical, or industrial engineering.
- 5 years supervisory/lead experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with TPS/ Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing principles and programs.
- Experience in the aerospace industry and/or fastening or metal forming.
The position includes competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), an excellent 401(k) matching program, paid holidays, and vacation. The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $117,000.
