Overview

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Operations Manager to join our TEAM. This new highly visible position was created as part of Bingham & Taylor’s Plant Manager succession planning process. The role will lead comprehensive foundry functions from safety and material procurement to final product delivery. The ideal candidate has a technical background with extensive manufacturing leadership experience, specifically demonstrating lean manufacturing processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safety and Quality: Collaborate with functional leaders to leverage human‑performance knowledge and skills to drive zero‑incident safety and quality.
  • Strategic Goals: Partner with the Plant Manager to develop and achieve strategic goals, determine accountability, enforce policies and attain company objectives.
  • Staff Management: Oversee staff recruitment, selection, training and performance appraisal, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing.
  • Operational Strategies: Develop functional objectives aligned with organizational goals, evaluate trends, and monitor critical measurements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive results through collaborative team‑based problem solving, change management and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Financial Planning: Own KPIs that meet financial commitments and support accountability.
  • Process Operation: Establish operating conditions for foundry equipment based on formulations and feed materials while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Performance Monitoring: Deploy and improve key performance indicators, ensuring productivity, quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Resource Management: Manage material procurement, inventory control and cost‑reduction strategies while troubleshooting operational issues.
  • Inter‑departmental Coordination: Collaborate with various departments to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Furnace Maintenance: Coordinate with Maintenance to oversee and support induction furnace relining and maintenance to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Professional Development: Lead learning and development for all team members, stay current through workshops and professional societies, and recommend enhancements.
Education & Experience
  • Minimum BS degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment; foundry experience with induction melt furnaces is a plus.
  • Maintenance and/or engineering experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental laws applicable to the foundry industry.
  • Demonstrated practical experience with lean manufacturing processes and continuous improvement.
