Overview
UCLA Law's Communications Department seeks a Social Media Manager to act as the chief storyteller, driving the school’s mission and values through compelling social media content across multiple platforms. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Communications and Director of Digital Marketing & Storytelling, the manager will conceptualize, create, execute, measure and evaluate social media programs for UCLA School of Law.
Key Responsibilities- Manage, maintain and grow UCLA Law’s social media channels (Instagram/Stories/IGTV, Linked In, You Tube, Facebook, X, Reddit and others).
- Produce and curate content, including Instagram stories, You Tube videos and partner material, to strengthen campaigns.
- Monitor trends, engage with followers and community, and provide real‑time coverage of events.
- Analyze analytics and collaborate with Communications leadership to develop actionable insights.
- Research industry best practices and emerging trends in social media.
- Assist with crisis communications and reporting.
- Maintain day‑to‑day operations and ensure integrated messaging compatible with branding and marketing programs.
Onsite work during normal office hours. Availability may be required on weekends, evenings and holidays, and light travel may be necessary.
Compensation & BenefitsSalary range: $71,500 – $76,000 annually (U.S. dollars). Benefits include the full pay range, university benefits starting day one and additional compensation estimated with the UC Total Compensation Estimator. Remote/Hybrid eligibility:

- Minimum 3 years of professional social media experience, demonstrating measurable growth for a consumer brand.
- Experience with social media scheduling, listening and competitive research tools such as Sprout and Dunroe.
- Proficiency in producing compelling You Tube and Instagram videos, including day‑in‑the‑life vlogs.
- Cross‑platform experience between Mac and PC environments, with knowledge of file conversion and platform specifications.
- Scriptwriting, storyboarding and communicating video concepts to non‑production audiences.
- Experience conducting video interviews, directing and working with on‑screen talent.
- Advanced knowledge of platforms:
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, You Tube, Reddit, Linked In, Group Me, BeReal, etc. - Advanced understanding of basic marketing principles and strategies.
- Strong ownership, deadline‑oriented, proactive management skills, and ability to independently prioritize and track complex schedules.
- Research and analytical skills to develop and implement innovative solutions.
- Excellent internet research, writing, copywriting and editing skills, with strong spelling and grammar.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in task execution.
- Familiarity with design and multimedia editing programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere, Canva, etc.).
- Knowledge of university structure, policies and procedures.
- Experience supervising student employees, including hiring, orientation, training, workflow organization, performance evaluation and coaching.
- Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or a related field (preferred).
- Strong written and verbal communication with ability to work across departments and external partners.
- Willingness to stay abreast of industry trends and technology, and contribute suggestions.
- Background check and ability to handle confidential situations.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Strong teamwork and cooperation with supervisors and colleagues.
- Reliability, punctuality and willingness to work evenings and weekends.
Candidate must be 18 years or older. Continued employment contingent upon a satisfactory background investigation.
