This is a full-time position that will strengthen Hawaii Green Growth in network building, partner engagement, and poverty reduction through development of the Sustainability Business Forum (SBF) and its working groups. The SBF is a voluntary CEO-led peer-to-peer initiative that supports candid dialogue and concrete action to achieve Hawaii’s Aloha+ Challenge and the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) grounded in island values.
26 diverse businesses are represented in the SBF, including airlines, financial institutions, tourism operators, and agriculture operations, among others. These businesses have committed to driving action towards achieving the Aloha+ Challenge and holding their businesses accountable on the Aloha+ Dashboard, including a commitment to uplifting underserved communities throughout Hawaii. The Sustainability Business Forum Ameri Corps VISTA position is structured to provide significant work experience in the areas of sustainable development, policy, communications, and data through hands-on experiential learning.
This position will have the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility quickly, and engage with a diverse network of local, national and international partners.
This position will work extensively with a wide range of business, government, academic, philanthropic, and community partners who work to advance social, economic, and environmental priorities across Hawaii and is therefore ideally suited for applicants seeking to gain professional experience in these sectors. Major responsibilities include partner coordination to strengthen relationships beyond the VISTA term; developing reusable systems, tools and procedures to support organizational capacity;
communications & outreach; and project legacy products that document developed systems, tools and other reusable resources. The Sustainability Business Forum VISTA member will work with partners to address poverty through the Aloha+ Challenge, which includes anti-poverty initiatives such as affordable housing and food security for low-income and economically-disadvantaged communities.
