Coordinator, Volunteer Program
The Coordinator, Volunteer Program ensures the effective engagement, coordination, and support of volunteers in alignment with Liliʻuokalani Trust’s mission and program needs. This role is responsible for recruiting, training, scheduling, and supporting volunteers across LT program locations, including programs, activities, and events. The Volunteer Coordinator ensures that volunteers are effectively integrated into LT program location assignments and that their contributions are recognized and valued.
This position reports directly to the Managing Director, Policy and Practice and collaborates with teammates across departments to meet volunteer needs and enhance community engagement. The Volunteer Coordinator also works closely with LT’s Senior Leadership Team, along with other LT departments to support the success of LT’s diverse offerings across all program locations in a manner that ensures innovation, best practice application and cultural resonance reflecting the mission, vision, and values of LT.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate volunteer assignments across program locations based on program and operational needs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteer inquiries, onboarding, and scheduling.
- Maintain accurate volunteer records and track hours for reporting and recognition.
- Conduct volunteer orientation and training sessions.
- Support volunteer recruitment efforts through community outreach and events.
- Assist in developing and updating volunteer service descriptions and SOPs.
Community Engagement & Support
- Collaborate with the Managing Director, Policy and Practice to identify and pursue community outreach opportunities.
- Represent LT at community fairs, events, and meetings to promote volunteer opportunities.
- Communicate regularly with volunteers and partner organizations, as applicable via newsletters, email, and phone.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for volunteers.
Recognition & Retention
- Organize volunteer appreciation events and recognition programs.
- Highlight volunteer achievements through internal and external communications.
- Implement strategies to retain volunteers and encourage ongoing engagement.
Evaluation & Reporting
- Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of the LT Volunteer Program effectiveness and impact, inclusive of volunteer development, program, and kamaliʻi impact.
- Provide quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reporting and recommendations for quality improvement.
- Prepare reports and presentations for Executives, Senior Leadership, and program locations highlighting key findings, trends, recommendations, and action plans.
Administrative Support
- Assist with scheduling site visits and tours of LT program locations
- Respond to inquiries related to volunteer programs and site visits.
- Maintain site visit schedules and send confirmations and reminders.
- Enter data into Volunteer Management CRM system and support reporting needs.
LT Program Location Support and Technical Assistance:
- Provides support and staffing/coverage for LT program locations as applicable.

- Contribute to the Trust’s success by accepting new assignments, helping team members, learning new skills, and striving to improve team and organization results.
Preferred education and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, human resources, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in volunteer coordination or program support, preferably in a youth-serving organization.
- Familiarity with volunteer management software and scheduling tools.
- Communication:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. - Collaboration:
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of volunteers and staff. - Organization:
Excellent organizational and time management skills. - Technical expertise:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management. - Time management:
